Automated Indoor
Hydroponic Garden

Co-developed an innovative automized hydroponic garden.

After becoming increasingly aware of the convenience of small year-round indoor gardens, and realizing how expensive and impractical current products are, I decided to create my own product that would remedy these issues.

The first step of this project was concpetualizing the scale and general apporach of the product, and then brainsotrming unique space-saving layouts. The final design was a series of vertically stacked tubes with holes drilled into the sides for plants, and a system of tubes connecting water flow down the levels.

Next, I constructed the hydroponic garden using PVC pipes, flexible plumbing tubes, a bucket, rockwool, and wood.

After that, I installed the water pump, LED lighting systems, humidity sensors, and connected them through relay switches and an arduino microcontroller.

Finally, I wrote a closed-loop control system for the lights and water pump that woud regulate water levels and lighting timing and color spectrum based on humidity and user-imputed plant species.
